What changed, and when.

  1. 0.3.0

    • File operations run in the background. Copying, moving, deleting, and creating archives no longer lock the window. The new Transfers window shows each job's progress, speed, and time left, with Pause, Resume, and Cancel, and cancelling no longer leaves a partial file behind. Jobs on the same disk or connection take turns; others run side by side.
    • Undo file operations. Edit ▸ Undo (⌘Z) reverses your last copy, move, rename, or Move to Trash, and Window ▸ Operation History rolls back earlier ones, even days later. Every file is checked first, and anything that has changed since is skipped and explained. History stays on this Mac for 30 days unless you change or clear it in Settings ▸ General.
    • Answer file conflicts once. Choose Skip, Replace, Replace If Older, or Keep Both before a transfer starts, or answer in Transfers with Apply to all. A conflict no longer stops the whole app.
    • Merges folders that already exist at the destination. A bulk Replace now merges too, so it no longer discards files that only the destination had.
    • Browse an iPhone or iPad connected by USB, in every edition. It appears under Devices in the sidebar: copy photos and videos off it, copy files to and from apps that share documents, and rename, create folders, or delete where iOS allows.
    • Messages, Transfers, and Operation History now sit together in the toolbar. Messages and Transfers show a count, and Transfers flags a job waiting for your answer.
    • The status bar shows the free space on the listed disk, including SMB shares, and no longer reports a selected folder as "Zero KB".
    • Settings ▸ Privacy can ask macOS for Files & Folders and Local Network access, so MFCommander appears in those System Settings lists, and shows whether Full Disk Access is on.
    • Opens S3 folders holding more than 1,000 objects one page at a time, with First and Next. Sorting and filtering apply to the page shown.
    • Stays responsive with very large data: sorting huge folders, finding duplicates, scanning disks with millions of folders, and refreshing clusters with thousands of Pods.
    • Explains Kubernetes permission problems at once. View Logs and the Logs tab no longer open an empty viewer after a long wait, and a related resource you cannot read no longer takes you away from the one you were viewing.
    • Makes Kubernetes more dependable on busy clusters. Events and other slow lists now finish loading instead of being restarted by automatic refresh, and a failed log stream is reported in the viewer and in Messages rather than ending as though the Pod had stopped logging.

    • Ejects removable drives directly from the sidebar.
    • Shows which iCloud files are stored only in the cloud, and downloads one when you click its cloud icon. The icon disappears once the file is on your Mac.
    • Filters Kubernetes resources by status, using the choices present in the loaded list. Status and namespace filters now sit together above column headers that match the file listings.
    • Keeps your selected detail tab when a Kubernetes resource refreshes, and holds your position when its contents have not changed.

  6. 0.2.9

    • Fixes the running total in Disk Usage overstating how much space a scan has found. The line above the table added up the sizes files declare rather than the space they actually occupy, so a scan could report several times the capacity of the disk it was scanning — 9.92 TB on a 1 TB drive — while the table and the status bar below it showed the correct figure. All three now report the same total. Only that one line was affected; no scan result, size, or deletion was ever based on the wrong number.

  7. 0.2.8

    • Adds Disk Usage, which shows what is actually using a folder's space. Pick any folder and it builds a size-sorted tree you can open level by level, with results appearing as they are found rather than after the whole scan finishes. A scan of a full startup volume takes about a minute, and you can keep working while it runs. Stopping early keeps everything found so far instead of discarding it.
    • Adds Duplicate Files, which finds identical files by content and lets you delete the copies you do not want. Matching never relies on names, so copies that were renamed are still found and files that merely share a name are not. Results group each set of identical files under one row, and the delete flow always keeps at least one copy of every group.
    • Both tools open in a pane tab from Commands › Disk Usage… (Shift-Command-D) and Commands › Duplicate Files… (Option-Command-F), from the toolbar, and they are included in every edition.
    • Search Files has moved to the Commands menu alongside them, from the File menu, so the three tools that replace a pane's listing are in one place.
    • Fixes uploading large files to OneDrive. Anything over 250 MB previously failed; uploads now send in bounded chunks, so a multi-gigabyte file completes.
    • Corrects folder sizes in the file list. An app or other package now counts as a single item rather than everything inside it, and a file with more than one hard link is counted once instead of once per name.

  8. 0.2.7

    • Fixes MFCommander quitting unexpectedly after a Pro or Infra license is activated. The quit came from the routine background check that confirms an entitlement, so it could arrive minutes after activating and then return about once a day, with nothing you did to prompt it. Your license and your files were never at risk: an affected copy reopens with its edition intact and needs no reactivation.
    • Adds Edit › Copy (Command-C) to every file list — Full Details, List, Thumbnails, and Search results — so a selection pastes into Finder or any other application.
    • Keeps recursive search inside the folder you chose. A folder symlink pointing outside that folder no longer returns results from elsewhere on the disk.

  9. 0.2.6

    • Makes first-run folder access dependable. MFCommander now allows macOS to present its native access prompts when you open protected folders such as Documents, Desktop, Downloads, Pictures, and application data.
    • Adds clear recovery when access is denied: open the matching macOS settings directly, then choose Retry Access to reopen the exact folder without restarting MFCommander.
    • Adds permanent recovery shortcuts under Settings › Privacy for Files & Folders, Local Network, App Management, and optional Full Disk Access. Full Disk Access is never requested automatically.
    • Announces an expired trial once, with direct choices to upgrade to Pro or Infra or continue with the Community edition.
    • Reworks Settings › License to show the upgrades that are actually available for the edition you own, plus a link to compare editions.
    • Fixes long connection errors stretching the Settings window; detailed server errors now wrap cleanly inside the existing window.

  10. 0.2.5

    • Saving a connection now proves it works first. Save signs in and reads the exact folder, share, bucket, or namespace you configured, and stores the connection only once the server agrees. A connection that cannot be reached is never written, so a saved connection is one you can open.
    • Leaves a stored connection untouched when an edit to it fails to validate, and keeps your typing on screen so you can correct the rejected field and save again. Closing Settings without a successful save discards the draft, including a cloud account you signed in to but did not save.
    • Reports the outcome in the Connections pane rather than silently: sign-in and reachability failures explain what the server refused, and a verified save says so.
    • Adds a per-connection AWS Profile picker to the Kubernetes connection form, so one window can browse two AWS accounts without relaunching. Only the profile name is stored; no credential material is read.
    • Unifies all six Settings pages on one grouped look, so headings, cards, and spacing read consistently across General, Appearance, Privacy, License, Hotkeys, and Infra.
    • Changes tab cycling to ⌘[ and ⌘], and moves back and forward through folder history to ⌘← and ⌘→.
    • Fixes a restored Kubernetes tab refusing to reopen after relaunch.

    • Adds Select Text in Image to the image viewer, using on-device recognition so text embedded in screenshots, scans, and other still images can be selected and copied directly.
    • Makes text selection available from both the image context menu and the View menu, while keeping Copy Image first and showing Copy Text only when recognized text is selected.
    • Turns image text selection on by default. Turning it off is a sticky choice across windows and app launches, restores drag-to-pan everywhere, and performs no recognition work.
    • Skips text recognition on animated images, on images larger than 80 million pixels, and on images it cannot read or measure, and reads only the page of a multi-page TIFF you are looking at.

  12. 0.2.3

    • Adds Settings ▸ Infra, a dedicated home for Kubernetes and Docker tooling, helper-pod, safety, and resource-browser preferences. The page uses familiar macOS settings groups with adaptive cards, consistent spacing, and scrolling for smaller windows.
    • Lets Infrastructure users choose kubectl and Docker tooling paths, helper images, image-pull secrets, CPU and memory requests/limits, restricted Pod Security, and helper-pod lifetime without editing configuration files.
    • Adds display-only namespace hiding by name or pattern, configurable Kubernetes/Docker read-only protection, and Confirm Each Time, Always Reveal, or Never Reveal policies for Kubernetes secrets.
    • Makes resource refresh cadence, initial log backlog, and follow-by-default behavior configurable from the Infra page. Updated helper-image defaults also take effect when the next pod starts, including on an already-open connection.
    • Moves unlocked folder, connection, Kubernetes, and Docker tabs between panes by dragging them.
    • Keeps a tab's connection when you duplicate or copy it.
    • Follows your navigation in a resource-browser tab's title.
    • Gives every built-in theme a complementary sidebar palette that contrasts with the file panels while keeping sidebar text and icons readable in light and dark appearances.
    • Fixes MFCommander not shutting down cleanly after the main window closes.

    • Introduces a new Doberman app icon, rendered as Liquid Glass on macOS 26.
    • Reports archive, cloud-transfer, Kubernetes, Docker, and media failures instead of leaving incomplete files or plausible-looking empty views.
    • Stops background work when the window or browser that started it closes, so updates stop arriving for something you already closed.
    • Keeps panes, resource browsers, toolbars, viewers, and saved connections from losing track of where you were while navigating, and on the way out at shutdown.
    • Draws the vertical dividers between columns in the file, search, Kubernetes, and Docker lists, and makes Settings ▸ Appearance ▸ Grid color them, with a checkbox to turn them off. Grid previously had no effect on any list and instead tinted the folder tabs, the toolbar CPU/memory graphs, resource-browser cards and charts, and the Markdown preview; those now follow Text.
    • Adds four built-in themes carrying their familiar editor palettes: One Dark, Dracula, Monokai, and Nord.
    • Fixes readability in the Light theme: the bottom status bar's text was too faint against its own bar, and a selected connection in Settings ▸ Connections kept dark text and a dark icon on its blue highlight.
    • Zooms the Thumbnails view: ⌘+ and ⌘− (also View ▸ Zoom In / Zoom Out) step the icons and Quick Look previews between 32 and 512 points, and thumbnails re-render at the new size instead of being upscaled. Both are offered only while the active pane shows thumbnails.
    • Makes ⌘A a toggle — pressing it again on a fully selected listing clears the selection — and retires the separate Deselect All command, whose ⌘− is now Zoom Out.
    • Applies the Colors panel's Opacity slider to Settings ▸ Appearance colors. Opacity was previously discarded when the theme was saved, so a translucent color drew fully opaque.

  14. 0.2.1

    • Pastes files copied in Finder directly into a pane. Edit ▸ Paste and a new folder-background context menu both target the pane's current directory and run through the same transfer path as a drag-in, so confirmation, progress, cancellation, and conflict resolution behave identically. Editable text fields keep ordinary text paste.
    • Adds Copy Image to the image viewer, on the image itself and in Edit ▸ Copy while the viewer is key. Zoom and pan do not change the copied pixels, and a paged image copies the frame you are looking at.
    • Ships a redesigned app icon: a rail of coloured place chips beside two panes of file rows, rendered as Liquid Glass on macOS 26.
    • Renders Markdown images written with a relative path, such as ![](_resources/x.png), which previously never appeared outside a handful of world-readable directories.
    • Opens the viewer's line detail panel only on Command-I. Clicking a line used to throw the detail pane over the text, interrupting reading and text selection; a click now only selects.
    • Removes the stall on files whose content sits on one enormous line.
    • Keeps keyboard focus inside a pane when a Kubernetes or Docker browser is shown or hidden. The pane previously went dead to arrow keys, and Maximize Pane, Get Info, and Back stopped responding with it.
    • Checks for updates at launch and every twelve hours, instead of only when asked.
    • Applies a license tier change to the available connectors immediately, without a restart.

  15. 0.2.0

    • Adds Dropbox as a Pro connection. Sign in from Settings ▸ Connections, then browse your Dropbox from the sidebar like any other remote: open huge files without downloading them first, copy in and out, create and delete folders, and see real image thumbnails rather than type icons. Large uploads stream in chunks, so sending a multi-gigabyte file does not load it into memory.
    • Lists every page of a large OneDrive folder. A folder with more entries than one page of results previously stopped at the first page and silently showed an incomplete listing.
    • Verifies the SSH host key when connecting over SFTP. The first connection to an unfamiliar server is trusted and remembered, and a server whose key later changes is refused before your password is sent — previously any host key was accepted.
    • Removes the temporary copy MFCommander makes when previewing or opening a remote file. Copies left behind by a quit or a crash are now swept at the next launch, and files opened in another app are cleaned up on exit.
    • Restricts every temporary copy of remote content to your account alone. These were previously readable by other user accounts on the same Mac.
    • Updates the bundled SMB and media components to patched versions, closing memory-safety issues that a malicious server or a malformed media file could otherwise reach.
    • Applies license changes without waiting for a restart: a revoked or expired license is now noticed on the next launch or when the app resumes.

  16. 0.1.9

    • Adds related-resource Overviews to Kubernetes browsing: a resource's detail now names the Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, PersistentVolumeClaims, Nodes, and controllers it is connected to, and every reference is clickable so you can walk the relationship without going back to a list.
    • Gives Deployments a Pods table with clickable pod and node names, running-state dots, ready and restart counts, and columns that shed one at a time as the pane narrows instead of collapsing all at once.
    • Pairs each Information field name with its value on one line, rules off grouped fields such as a Deployment's image list and a Pod's owner, and keeps resource links a readable blue.
    • Tidies the Pod Containers card: the container name reads as plain text, the state cell shows the state alone, a rule separates the heading from the rows, and expanding a container reveals its environment variables in two columns along with per-container CPU and memory.
    • Reveals a Pod container's Secret-backed environment values on request rather than displaying them by default.
    • Loads the Monitoring tab only when you select it, aligns its content with the tab strip, and keeps its CPU and memory charts one height instead of stretching to fill a tall pane.
    • Points the mouse cursor as a hand over every link in a detail pane.
    • Fixes connecting to clusters whose kubeconfig runs a credential helper, including GKE's gke-gcloud-auth-plugin and Azure's kubelogin, which previously failed when the helper was not on a bare PATH.

    • Finds Prometheus and the kubectl binary automatically when setting up a Kubernetes connection, with a Browse button for choosing kubectl yourself.
    • Shows the connection's progress while it checks a cluster, instead of leaving the form still.
    • Tells you a Kubernetes or Docker list is loading, and says so plainly when it is empty rather than looking like a list that failed.
    • Finishes drawing a resource's title after a slow load, instead of leaving it blank.
    • Makes the overview cards above a Kubernetes or Docker list readable, and left-aligns metadata where a resource has little of it.
    • Gives pane tabs equal width, restores their labels after a resize, and moves the oldest into a >> overflow menu only once the pane can no longer show them readably.
    • Activates an inactive pane when its Add Tab button creates a tab.
    • Adds Finder-style disclosure chevrons to the sidebar.
    • Shows or hides hidden files with Command-Shift-period.
    • Moves Preview to the right side of the toolbar, and dims view, search, and preview controls that do not apply to what the pane is showing.
    • Keeps Search controls and results usable at the smallest window size.
    • Improves the contrast of a selected connection's name.

  18. 0.1.7

    • Restates the Kubernetes connection form around one kubeconfig: choose a file or paste its contents, and MFCommander validates it as you type, reports whether the cluster answers, fills Default Namespace from the cluster, and says when it finds Prometheus. A context chooser appears only when the kubeconfig holds more than one.
    • Shows a Kubernetes Event's properties, including its involved object, in the Preview pane on ⌘I.
    • Lists Kubernetes Events as Type, Message, Namespace, Object, Count, and Age.
    • Fixes the Preview pane appearing behind a file listing after a Search tab closes in the same pane.
    • Makes the standalone View Logs window match the Resource Details log tab: a click selects a line, and ⌘I shows its details.
    • Makes search results follow the rules of the pane they live in: the selection dims when the pane goes inactive, clicking a result activates that pane, and navigating from the sidebar leaves the Search tab instead of listing behind it.
    • Applies text typed into a search filter popover when the popover is dismissed by clicking outside it, rather than discarding it.
    • Removes the Match column from search results, whose stated reasons were unreliable.

  19. 0.1.6

    • Fixes first launch being refused with "Apple could not verify MFCommander.app is free of malware." Every download through 0.1.5 hit this when it came from a browser. The app was correctly signed and notarized the whole time; library search paths left over from the build machine stopped macOS from finishing its malware scan, and it will not vouch for a scan it could not complete. Reinstalling is not required — the message appeared at launch, never during use.

  20. 0.1.5

    • Opens the downloaded disk image on an Applications shortcut and a layout that shows where to drag MFCommander. The image previously held the app alone, with no indication of how to install it.

    • Makes alternating row colors opt-in, so file lists are plain until you turn the stripes on in Settings ▸ Appearance.
    • Removes the theme preview from Settings ▸ Appearance; the file panes themselves show a color change as you make it.
